  2. Step 2

  3. Step 3

    You get the price

After a walkthrough the written estimate follows within 24 to 48 hours, with a link to approve it.

    Step 3 of 4
  4. Step 4

    We book the work

You get a text with the day, the window and the address. A leak or a dead water heater goes ahead of routine jobs.

Where we work

Everything runs out of one shop in Bryans Road, Maryland. We cover 30 miles around Washington. Type your ZIP and the search below tells you which side of that line you're on.

Do we work in your area?

Before you call a plumber

The plumber swaps parts until something works.

We find the cause before we price the fix. When a toilet blocks every few weeks, the trouble is usually further down the drain, and a new bowl won’t change that. See plumbing repair.

Nobody shows up when they said.

Once we’ve booked the visit, you get a text with the day, the arrival window and the address. If we’re running behind, you hear it from us before the window opens. We pick up the phone from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day, and a message left after that gets answered the next morning.

The bill grows once the wall is open.

The visit and the written price cost nothing, and you agree the number before work starts. Tracing a hidden leak is its own job with its own price, and you know that price before the search starts. What plumbing repairs cost.

Wet footprints and a hole left in the wall.

We cover the floor and our shoes, and tidy the room before we leave. A wall gets opened once, where the leak actually is, and the patch is quoted separately so you can see what it costs.

Your plumbing through the year around DC

November to February. The average first freeze in Washington is around November 12. Pipe in outside walls, crawl spaces and unheated garages freezes first. If one splits, close the main and then call us. A burst pipe or an active leak gets booked within 48 hours. Read what to do when a pipe bursts.

December and January. December is the worst month for burst pipes, sewer backups and failed water heaters. Drain calls peak in January, when holiday grease hardens in cold pipes. See drain cleaning.

April to July. The last freeze is around April 1, which is when a hose bib that cracked over the winter starts dripping inside the wall. May through July is usually the wettest stretch, so run the sump pump in April while you still have time to replace it.

August to October. Atlantic hurricane season peaks near September 10, and the leftover rain fills basements here. Plan a water heater swap or repipe for the fall, then run the yearly plumbing checklist before November.

Questions about working with All Purpose Plumbers

What does All Purpose Plumbers work on?⌄
Anything that brings water into the building or carries waste out of it. That covers leaks, clogs, main lines, water heaters, toilets, faucets, sump pumps and old pipe, in houses, rentals and businesses.
Will you tell me the price before you start?⌄
Yes, every time. We tell you what we found and put the number on paper, and nobody picks up a tool until you've approved it. If a second problem turns up once a wall is open, work stops and that piece gets its own price.
Do you warranty your work?⌄
Yes, for 60 to 90 days depending on the job. Your written estimate states which.
