Plumbing repairs for homes across MD, DC and Northern VA

A running toilet, a tap that drips or a disposal that hums can be the fixture failing or a sign of something behind it. We work out which, then fix that, and the visit to find out is free.

Plumbing repairs we handle

The everyday repairs in a house, from a toilet that won't stop running to a sump pump that has gone quiet. Several small ones can go on one visit and one written estimate.

  • Toilet Repair
  • Faucet Repair
  • Garbage Disposal Repair
  • Sump Pump Repair
  • Water Pressure Problems

Toilet Repair

It runs all night, blocks every couple of weeks, or leaves water on the floor around the base.

Faucet Repair

A tap that drips, sticks when you turn it, or leaks into the cabinet underneath.

Garbage Disposal Repair

It hums without turning, leaks under the sink, or does nothing when you flip the switch.

Sump Pump Repair

The pump runs nonstop, cycles on and off for no reason, or sat there the last time the basement took on water.

Water Pressure Problems

The shower lost its pressure, or one tap runs much weaker than everything else in the house.

Fix the cause, not the part that happened to fail

Paying for a repair only makes sense if it’s the right repair. That starts with looking behind the fixture.

One fixture or the whole line
Before any part comes out of the van, we find out whether the drip, the clog or the weak tap is the fixture itself or something behind it.
Small jobs priced together
Got a dripping tap, a running toilet and a shutoff that won’t turn? Put them all on one request. They go on one written estimate and one visit.
Old pipe is fine with us
Cast iron and galvanized are in plenty of older houses around DC. We repair around them and don’t treat every old joint as a reason to replumb the house.

How every job runs →

How we price a plumbing repair

You get one written price for the whole repair after we've had a look, and the look costs nothing. Nobody is watching a clock while the plumber works.

Evenings and weekends don't cost extra on a house. We work from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day, and a repair at six on a Sunday is priced the same as one on a Tuesday morning.

The estimate lists the repair and every part in it. Sometimes a cabinet or a wall comes open and there's a second problem behind the first. When that happens we stop, tell you, and price that piece on its own before anyone touches it.

Before you book a plumbing repair

A small drip turns into a big bill.

We price a drip as a drip. You get the failed part and what it costs in writing before work starts, and that visit is free.

The fix treats the symptom and it comes back.

One slow drain is local. Several, or a toilet that gurgles when the washer empties, point at the main line, and you hear which before anything is fixed. See drain cleaning.

Your old pipes scare people off.

Cast iron and galvanized are in a lot of the older houses around here. We repair around them all the time and tell you honestly when a run is past repairing.

Nobody turns up on the day.

The booking text gives you a real arrival window. If the plumber is held up on an earlier repair, you get a call.

When repairs come up around DC

Running toilets and dripping taps don’t keep a calendar. The sump pump does. May, June and July are usually the wettest months around Washington, so pour a bucket into the pit in April and make sure it kicks on. See the yearly plumbing checklist.

Questions we get about plumbing repair

My toilet blocks every few weeks. Is it the toilet?

⌄
Sometimes. More often, a toilet that keeps blocking has something stuck further down the line or a vent problem. Put in a new toilet without finding that and you've paid a lot to keep the same clog.

Do you charge to find a leak?

⌄
Coming out, finding the problem and writing you a price costs nothing. If the leak is hidden in a wall or a slab, tracing it is a separate job, and you get that price in writing before we start.

Can you work on cast iron and galvanized pipe?

⌄
Yes. Both turn up in older houses all over this area, and both take different fittings and a different touch from modern copper and PEX.

Is a running toilet worth fixing now?

⌄
Yes. It runs day and night and you pay for every gallon on the water bill. It's usually a flapper or a fill valve, one of the smallest jobs we do.

Do plumbers charge by the hour or by the job?

⌄
Both, depending on the company. Angi's Washington, DC drain cleaning page puts plumbers at $100 to $300 per visit or $75 to $200 per hour (page read October 2026). We price by the job. You get one written number after a free look, and it does not grow because a seized shutoff took longer to free than anyone hoped.

How much does it cost to fix a running toilet or a dripping faucet?

⌄
Usually it is one of the smaller bills in plumbing, because the fix is normally one part. In a toilet that is a flapper or a fill valve. In a faucet it is a cartridge or a washer. Angi's Washington, DC plumber cost page puts small jobs like a faucet or toilet fix at $100 to $300 (page read October 2026). Our price comes in writing after a free look, and the toilet and the tap can share one visit and one estimate.

What happens during a plumbing repair visit?

⌄
The plumber finds the fault first, shows it to you and explains it in plain words, then writes down the price. Nothing gets repaired until you approve that number. Floors are covered before the work starts. The repair is tested before anyone packs up, so a toilet gets flushed several times and a new joint is watched under pressure. The area is cleaned and you are walked through what was done.

How long does a typical plumbing repair take?

⌄
We don't publish a standard time, because the same dripping tap can be a quick cartridge swap or a much longer job once the shutoff under the sink refuses to close. Access, the age of the pipe and valves, and whether a second fault turns up decide it. Ask on the visit how long yours will take once the fault is found. Several small repairs booked on one visit take less of your day than booking each one separately.

Can a plumbing repair be done on the day I call?

⌄
We don't promise a visit on the day you call. Routine repairs are usually booked a few days out. Urgent ones, like water you can't stop or a house without hot water, get a slot inside 48 hours and move ahead of the routine list, and a next day visit happens when the calendar has room. Phones are answered from 7 in the morning to 7 at night, every day, and the time you are given is the time we keep.

What is the difference between a plumber and a handyman for a repair?

⌄
A handyman can swap a toilet flapper or a faucet cartridge. Work on the water supply, the drains, gas or a water heater belongs to a licensed plumber in most of this area. In Montgomery and Prince George's counties, most plumbing and all gas work has to be done by a WSSC Water licensee, and DC and Virginia license plumbers through their own boards. The line falls where the fix touches a pipe, a valve or a vent, because that work can need a permit and an inspection.

Why does my plumbing problem keep coming back after a repair?

⌄
Usually because the part that failed was replaced and the cause stayed where it was. A toilet that keeps blocking is often reacting to something further down the line or a blocked vent. A drain that clears and blocks again has grease, roots or a sagging section behind it. A pinhole leak that returns a foot away means the pipe has thinned along the whole run. We look for the cause before pricing the fix, and when the answer is a bigger repair, the estimate says so.

Should a plumbing repair come with any kind of warranty on the work?

⌄
Yes. Ask for it in writing before the work starts, and ask what it covers. Ours covers our workmanship, meaning the joints, the connections and the repair we made, for 60 to 90 days depending on the job, and the term for your job is printed on the written estimate. A new part or fixture also carries its maker's warranty, which is separate from ours.
