Plumber in Clinton, MD

Some Clinton houses are on WSSC water and sewer and some are on a well and septic, and that changes the job. We repair both kinds.

Clinton sits right on the sewer line

Clinton is where Prince George's County runs out of public sewer. Subdivisions near Branch Avenue are on WSSC. Go a few miles south toward Rosaryville and plenty of houses have a well and a septic tank.

The same symptom means a different fix on each side.

So our first question in Clinton is where the water goes when it leaves the house.

Worth knowing here

The sewer edge

Somewhere around Clinton, WSSC public sewer stops and private septic systems take over. That line is the sewer edge.

Clinton grew outward from old Surrattsville, the crossroads where the Surratt House Museum still stands. The subdivisions closest to Branch Avenue and Joint Base Andrews were built on public water and sewer. The older farm lots and the larger lots toward Rosaryville and Brandywine were not, and many still are not.

The edge is not a straight line. It follows where the sewer mains were run, so two houses on the same road can sit on different sides of it.

Real reasons Clinton calls

Slow drains on septic

Every drain in the house slowing at once on a septic property can be the tank, the line out to it or the field. We check the house side first and tell you if it is a septic company's job.

Main line backups on public sewer

In the subdivisions off Branch Avenue and Woodyard Road, a backup at the lowest drain points to the main line out to the WSSC sewer. A camera finds the clog or the break.

Well pressure and water heater wear

Houses on wells see pressure swings and more sediment in the water heater. Flushing the tank and checking the relief valve are routine here.

Military families on a moving clock

Joint Base Andrews sits right at the north edge of Clinton. When a move date is set, repairs need to be finished and written up before the house changes hands or tenants.

1970s and 1980s split-levels

Much of Clinton's housing is from the 1970s and 1980s. That age brings worn shutoff valves, original water heaters that were never replaced, and in some houses the grey polybutylene supply pipe.

Shops along Branch Avenue

The shopping centers along Branch Avenue and Woodyard Road need restroom and kitchen plumbing kept working, scheduled around business hours.

Plumbing questions from Clinton

Does it matter if my Clinton home is on public sewer or septic?

⌄
Yes. A public sewer backup and a failing drain field look alike on the phone but are different problems with different permits. Public sewer falls under the WSSC Water code with DPIE permits, and septic and well questions go through the county. Not sure which you have? We find out before we quote.

Do you work out toward Rosaryville and Brandywine?

⌄
Yes. Both sit inside our service area. Many lots out there have a well and a septic tank, so mention that when you call and we plan the visit around it.

How do I know if my house is on septic?

⌄
Check your water and sewer bill. If WSSC bills you for sewer, you are on public sewer. If you only pay for water, or you get no bill at all, look for a septic tank lid in the yard.

Can you work around a military move date near Andrews?

⌄
Yes. Tell us the move date when you call. We book the work and give you a written record of what was done for the next owner or tenant.

Do you work in Camp Springs near the base?

⌄
Yes. Camp Springs and the neighborhoods around the Joint Base Andrews gates are inside our service area.
