How much does Lowe's charge to install a water heater?
Only Lowe’s can answer that, and a number from us would be guesswork.
What matters more than a starting price is what gets added on the day. The items that most often turn a low installation price into a higher bill are the code items, like an expansion tank, a drain pan, a new relief valve line, a stand for a gas heater in a garage, and a vent sized for the new unit.
Where the heater lives matters as well. Attic, closet and crawl space installs take longer, and a newer tank can be too wide for the door the old one came through.
Whoever you call, get the quote in writing with all of those items named. Ours comes that way after a free look.
If you have already bought a tank from a store and want it fitted, tell us the make, model and size before booking. We check it against the space, the venting and the fuel so the install is not stopped halfway.
Want it looked at?
Ask any installer, us included, for a written price that names the expansion tank, pan, relief line and vent.
