What does a plumber charge after hours?
For a home, nothing extra, because we do not charge an after hours rate on residential work. Our working day runs 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week, so evenings until seven and weekends cost the same as a Tuesday morning.
What we do not do is send a plumber out in the middle of the night. Messages left after 7:00 PM get a reply the next morning, and anything urgent is booked within 48 hours, in front of the routine jobs on the list.
Commercial work is different. A restaurant, an office or a building often needs the water off when nobody is there. For those clients we book short notice, after hours and weekend slots in advance, with a price set for each job.
Whenever the work happens, the price is written down and approved before it starts.
If you work long days, the evening slots up to 7:00 PM and the weekend are usually the easiest way to be home for a visit without paying anything extra for it.
