Repair Program
Does DC's home rehab program cover failed plumbing?
By All Purpose Anytime Services LLC
Yes, when the plumbing has failed badly enough to be a code violation or a health and safety problem. The District's Single Family Residential Rehabilitation Program, run by DHCD, offers loans and grants for that kind of repair to long-time DC homeowners.
What it pays for
SFRRP pays for repairs that fix building code violations and threats to health and safety. The program counts failed plumbing systems among those.
How much
DHCD lists loans and grants of up to $75,000 per household.
Who qualifies
DC homeowners whose house has been their primary residence for at least three years, with property taxes and insurance current and household income within the program's limits.
Where we fit
We are not a DHCD program contractor, and we don't handle applications. What we can give you is a clear picture of the failure. We look at the pipe on both sides of the problem, put a camera down a main line when that is the question, and write the repair up with every part and its price.
If the program lets you pick who does the work, we can do it. If it assigns its own contractor, our written scope still tells you what to expect.
Before you apply
We checked this in October 2026. DHCD decides who qualifies, what is covered and how much.
Where this comes from
We built this page from our October 2026 research on the Single Family Residential Rehabilitation Program (SFRRP), run by the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
Services this program can pay for
Is your DC plumbing past patching?
Tell us what failed, whether it is supply pipe, a drain or the sewer line, and which part of the city you are in. A rowhouse often shares a stack or a party wall, so say that too.
We take insurance jobs. Financing may also be available for qualifying projects. Ask when you call.
