How to know if a plumber is good?
A good plumber explains what is wrong and why before mentioning money, and hands you the price in writing before picking up a tool.
Ask for proof of insurance. A certificate should come quickly and without excuses. Ask whether the job needs a permit and who will pull it. A water heater replacement, for example, is permitted work in Maryland, the District and Virginia.
Watch how surprises are handled. When a wall comes open and the problem is bigger than expected, a good plumber stops, shows you, and prices the extra before carrying on. A poor one just carries on and tells you at the end.
Ask what the warranty covers. Ours covers our workmanship for 60 to 90 days depending on the job, and new equipment such as a water heater also has its maker’s warranty.
Last, notice whether they talk you out of work you do not need. That is the clearest sign of all.

Hold us to the same checklist. Ask for the certificate and the written price when you call.
