Cost Guide
What is the average price to repipe a house with galvanized pipe in Prince George's County, MD?
By All Purpose Anytime Services LLC
The upstairs shower in your Bowie or Hyattsville house has been losing pressure for years, somebody said galvanized pipe, and now you want to know what a repipe costs. Nobody publishes an average for repiping a galvanized house in Prince George's County, and we're not going to print one nobody measured. The price comes from how many fixtures the new pipe has to reach, how much finished wall and ceiling has to come open, and whether it's one run or the whole house. You get those answered, with the number, in a written estimate after we've looked.
First make sure it's the pipe
Pressure that dropped across the whole house overnight usually isn't the pipe. A half closed main valve or a failing pressure reducing valve does that, and a pressure gauge screwed onto a hose bib reads it straight away.
Pressure that has faded over years, worst at the fixture farthest from the meter, is what galvanized does. It closes up from the inside, and cleaning it out doesn't hold. That run gets replaced.
What sets the price in a Prince George's house
Much of the housing around Carmody Hills in Capitol Heights went up in the 1930s, and replacing only the section that failed rarely ends the calls. We price a partial repipe of the worst run and a whole-house repipe side by side, because both are real options.
Each bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry and every outside tap is a branch the new pipe has to reach, and a second floor adds risers. An unfinished basement lets the main runs go in exposed. Finished rooms mean openings, and the drywall and paint to close them get their own line so you see both numbers.
Interior repiping in the county is WSSC Water licensee work under its plumbing code. The building permit comes from the county's DPIE office. Both are on the estimate.
How we price it
A plumber walks the house, checks the valve and the pressure, and looks at the pipe on either side of the worst run. The written estimate comes by text within 24 to 48 hours with a link to approve it, and nothing starts until you do. We price the job, with no clock running.
If you're not sure yet that the pipe is the problem, our Home Plumbing Condition Report covers one home, or a home with an accessible basement or second unit. It includes a pressure reading and labeled photos, and the fee is credited toward plumbing work booked within 30 days. Ask us what it costs for your house.
If a wall opens on a second problem, we stop and price that piece before going on. Our workmanship warranty runs 60 to 90 days depending on the job.
Where these numbers come from
When we searched this exact question in October 2026, no source gave a price for Prince George's County. Angi publishes whole-house repipe ranges for Washington, DC and Baltimore. Neither one is this county and neither is specific to galvanized, so we haven't carried their numbers over. They're there if you want to read them.
The condition report prices are ours, from our published offers. The WSSC and DPIE details are the same ones on our Capitol Heights and Clinton pages.
